STUMPWORK PEACOCK
I worked this peacock quite a while ago before our awful quakes & quite forgot to post it here! I did it in the Stumpwork tecnique but it does not show to advantage here. Used DMC rayon threads plus metallic threads to simulate the shimmer on the peacock's feathers.
Flowers are also raised like the peacock's body. Each petal worked then applied to the background fabric.
The tail.
The body & crest on the head.
Hi SallyAnn, Thank you so much for posting these photos. I am simply speechless (gobsmacked, blown away, etc.) by your exquisite embroidery. It is one of the best embroidered peacocks I've seen, and as you would know from my blog, I've seen a lot! What have you done with this masterpiece? Surely you will frame it for posterity? So many stitchers pack their finished projects away because they don't know what to do with them, but something so special should be on permanent display in your home!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry it is framed & hanging on the wall! I didn't include the frame in the photos because the photos would have been too large to upload. Thank you for your comments - love your peacocks too!

Deletei agree with the above comment, I have never seen a more beautiful peacock - I can imagine this piece ending up in a museum 60 years from now for everyone to gape in awe at.
ReplyDeleteThankyou to both of the above! It is something I did quite a while ago but hadn't done anything about posting it here.
